Tiki rooms and surf guitar have shared Southern California plumbing since the early ’60s. This is the record for when the room gets louder than dinner.

History

Toronto instrumental quartet The Surfrajettes formed in 2015 and built a following with beehives, Fenders, and a reverb tank — including a widely shared surf cover of Britney Spears’s “Toxic.” Hi-Tide Recordings issued their debut LP Roller Fink (HT-077) on April 22, 2022.

Colin Cripps (C&C Surf Factory) produced the sessions at The Woodshed Studio in Toronto. The set mixes new instrumental surf with covers (Nick Gilder’s “Roxy Roller,” Blondie, the Beatles) and roller-rink energy in the title and packaging.

Tiki rooms and surf guitar have shared Southern California plumbing since the early ’60s. Roller Fink is the modern crate pick when the room gets louder than dinner and you want current charts beside Dale and Ventures reissues.
