First tiki bar in a studio nook

A studio tiki bar is a 24–36 inch slice of wall plus a cart you can roll out of the way. If the cart blocks the fridge, it is too big. The Boraam Aya bamboo cart in the kit is kitchen-cart scale: bottles on top, tools on the shelf, mugs where you can grab them.

Skip full thatch panels and 24-inch carved masks. They eat a studio the way a sectional does. One 12-inch mask trio reads as “this corner has a job.” A reed roll can wait until you have a spare wall that is not also your coat rack.

Order of spend: something to drink from, something to shake with, then light. Four ceramic mugs with coasters cover a Friday night without mixing mug shopping and garnish shopping. A Boston shaker kit is enough for Mai Tais and Daiquiris; you do not need a Japanese jigger on night one.

Lighting is the cheap cheat. A warm under-cabinet LED strip (around 3000K) taped to the underside of a shelf or the cart’s top lip makes cheap rattan look finished. Cool white bulbs will make the same mask look like a dorm poster.

Top: shaker, jigger, a cutting board that fits the cart, lime, and whatever rum you already own. Shelf: four mugs, a bottle of orgeat, simple syrup in any squeeze bottle. Floor or extra shelf: a Bluetooth speaker if the room has no decent playback. That is a bar. The rest is decoration you add after three drinks have been served there.

Spirits stay a liquor-store errand. For this nook, one bottle of aged rum plus one Jamaican rum covers a Mai Tai. Light rum covers a Daiquiri. Do not buy five rum styles before the cart is in place.

Add the cart if you were using a folding table. Add one mask set. Stop before furniture that needs a second person to carry upstairs. A rattan accent chair is for a basement lounge, not a studio that already has a sofa.
